AT&T Senior Contract Specialist Widowed 1 1970 Three - 16, 11, and 10 years old No After graduating from SVHS, I attended Auburn University, received a degree in Interior Design in 1974, and then began a career with South Central Bell, which morphed into BellSouth and now into AT&T. Over my 37 year career with AT&T, I have held a wide variety of positions, some more interesting than others. I married Rod Abbott in 1975 (SVHS '66) and (some say miraculously) stayed happily married for 35 years, until his sudden death in March of this year. We have one son, Tom, a wonderful daughter-in-law, Jenine, and 3 grandchildren - Andrew, who is 16, Alexander, who is 11 and Ashlee, who is 10 (going on 21). In 1996 I decided to go back to school and get my Master's degree, and in 1999 I graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a Master's Degree in Public & Private Management. I am currently serving my 3rd term on the Birmingham City Council representing District 3, a job that takes much more time and energy than my "paying job" with AT&T. I live on Birmingham's Southside in Glen Iris Park with my Chinese Shar-Pei named Theo, regularly attend Southside Baptist Church and am happy just to be alive. I love to garden, renovate houses (mostly my own), swim & kayak, although there's not much time for any of them! I have a 1930 Ford Touring Sedan that I intend to restore - someday.

Contractor www.ecologicthestore.com Married 3 None Yet After SVHS, I went to Auburn, drank my way through college graduating in 1973. I left Birmingham in 1978. 30+ years in the insurance industry took me to Indianapolis, Denver, Indianapolis, Connecticut and Richmond, VA (at least for now). Stephanie and I opened a green home products store and contracting business in 2008. Not the best timing in the world, but nothing like a challenge :-) Right now keeping two businesses going takes most of my time. The rest is devoted to our 8 year old son, Sam.

Legal Administrative Assistant Married 1970 Working since graduation and just enjoying life. I thank God every day for my blessings. My sister and I are the only ones left in my family and neither one of us have any children, well, not 'human' kids, but canine (2 each). Oh, and the 'husbands' - sorry, forgot they are children (lol). Playing Yahtzee, reading, jigsaw puzzles, working in the yard and staying in touch with old friends.
Hope we have a large turnout for the reunion in August 2011.  Life gets shorter every year.  Please come if you can - I am looking forward to seeing everyone.

Registered nurse Single 1969 Several of them. Maybe only once or twice a year, but I still know where some of them are. I've been a surgical nurse for the last 40 years....all of them! I now do the robotics surgery at Trinity Medical Center (formerly Baptist Montclair) This has allowed me to do some travelling: All 50 states and 11 other countries. Hopefully, many more in the future. So far, my favorite trip was a photo safari in Kenya.
I've also enjoyed having animals. I'm on my third German Shepherd. I've had several cats and a horse as well.
I still enjoy getting in the out of doors. I can't do much hiking anymore, but I still enjoy a stroll through the woods. My last trip was to the southwest, so I got to stroll through several of the National Parks in Utah, Colorado and Arizona.
I also enjoy getting with friends weekly for pot luck dinners and movies. Singing in the church choir is also a real joy for me.

Are you happy now, Mark?

Financial Advisor Married 1 I was a transfer student to SVHS in our Junior year. After graduation, I finished Samford University, where I met my wife, Suzan. We have been married for 34 years. I then completed graduate school in counseling at The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and then lived in Fort Worth and Atlanta before moving back to Birmingham in 1985. I went back to school and got an M.B.A. at Alabama and left counseling and joined Merrill Lynch, where I have been for the past 20 years. My wife has taught kindergarten at Highlands School for the past 23 years. Our son, Tyler, is 27 years old. He finished at Birmigham Southern College and lives in New York and works for Carnegie Hall. Our family is blessed. We are looking forward to the reunion in October I am a runner. I also love to travel. My favorite thing is to combine the two. I have run marathons in New York, Chicago, Edinburgh in Scotland, and the Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham this February. I am a member of the Birmingham Track Club 1200 Mile Club.
We are planning a Memorial Run/Walk on the Saturday of our Reunion weekend, October 10, in memory of our SVHS classmates who have passed on. We will begin and end at the Magnolia Tree at the old SVHS site. At 10am there will be a 5k run/walk followed by a 1 mile fun run/walk. Afterwards, we will meet for brunch at 11am at Jackson's in SoHo. This will be a fun event for families as well as a way to remember classmates. Bring your Grandchildren! Psych. RN - Alcohol & Drug Abuse Specialtiy Divorced 0 (unless my dog has puppies) but plenty of nieces and nephews and cousins. Certified R.N., Psychiatry & Alcohol& Drug Abuse treatment. Co-Founder of Birmngham Chapter of Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association of Alabama. 1990. National Association for the Mentally Challenged advocate. I travel to see my family in Europe. I went to J'ville for 1 year and left. I married, worked and traveled. I attended Jefferson State Jr. College 1975-1977, then Samford University working on a BSN. I love traveling in Europe, especially 11th century churches. To stand in one is truly breath-taking to me (Spier), to participate in the service is more than incredible considering the age of the church. I retired and truly felt my vocation was one of christian service.
I haven't made but one reunion (10 year) because I was always working but I wouldn't miss this one!

Well I did miss this one but honestly, I was sick with flu or stomach virus then broke 3 toes (ouch). Really sorry I missed.

Retired Married 2 After graduating from Montevallo, I worked in Birmingham for a year and then moved to Washington, DC to take a job with everyone's favorite agency, IRS. They offered to train me as a computer programmer (remember when that was a new field). I thought I would come up here and work a few years, get some experience, and move back to Birmingham. I'm still here. In 1983 I married my husband, David. Our daughter Laura is 23 and graduated from Auburn University. I switched from Roll Tide to War Eagle. Our son Kevin is 21 and a junior at George Mason University. I wish that I could have atteded the 40th Reunion - hopefully next time.

Landscaper Single 1 1969 3 I am fortunate to have numerous of my Classmates as my close associates. I went to college for one year and then I found it necessary to get out and make a living. In 1971 I married and we later had two children, Dylan and Allison. During that time I worked in the Sales Department for Pepsi Cola for almost ten years. We divorced in 1980, but we have remained good friends through all the years. In 1984 I moved to Pensacola, Florida to go back to school and that's when I started the landscaping business. I moved back to this area in 1990 to be near my family and my friends, but I left behind some good friends and good memories in Florida. I have continued the landscaping business and amazingly, I still enjoy it.
On July 1, 2004 my son Dylan and his wife Melissa were killed in a head on collision in North Carolina by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. My grandson Zeke was in the car and he sustained serious injuries, but he has recovered fully and is living with Dylan and Allison's mother in this area. Needless to say this has been and still is the greatest tragedy of our lives, but daily we find out God is faithful and He really does know what He is doing. Sometimes forgiveness is not an easy way, but for us to live a full and healthy life, it is the only way. My friends have all been very supportive and to them I am forever indebted.
I am fortunate to be a part of the Reunion Committee and I am constantly amazed at our group of people as to how nice everyone really is and I am also amazed at all the effort and hard work to find every single person we went to school with and to make it the best reunion ever.
Hope to see everyone there.
Danny

Actually, that is the reason I do take life seriously.
